There are typically some common causes of water heater leaks, ranging from loose valves to corroded water tanks. However, the sign of water around your heater may not indicate a leak. In many cases, it is just the result of condensation on the outside of the tank.
However, If condensation does not seem to be the issue, then check the following parts: temperature-pressure relief valve, Vent, drain valve, heating element gasket, and water pipes.
