There are two certainties in life: death and concrete will eventually crack. So, when a crack appears in your foundation wall, do you need to get it repaired even if it isn’t leaking? The Crackman explains in a special appearance.
Narrator: It’s time once again for the “Crack Man Podcast” hosted by A1 Foundation Crack Repair. I’m Darren Kincaid here with the Crack Man himself, Rich Comeras. Rich and his son Adam have over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. This podcast provides expert basement waterproofing, concrete repair, and preventative maintenance tips for homeowners and businesses. A1 Foundation’s valuable insight will help avert a disastrous flood within the basement, health problems associated with water infiltration, and protect your biggest investment….your home. Should I have a foundation crack repaired even if it isn't leaking?
Narrator: So Rich, you've always said that there are two certainties in life. Death and concrete will eventually crack. So, when a crack appears in your foundation wall, do you need to get it repaired even if it isn't leaking?
Rich: Well, there's two schools of thought. Pay me now or pay me later. The reason why people have it done even if it's not leaking, is because it's like having a window open. Rain isn't going to come in the window all the time, but eventually, with a poured concrete foundation, it will leak because water will get into that crack, freeze, and open it up more and more.
You come home from your vacation. You went on vacation, you went downstairs, and you got quite a mess there. Another reason why people have it done is because it's a great place for termites to come up. They come right up to a nice dark place like that, and then they can cause problems. The 3rd reason why people have it done is because they're selling a house. And when you're selling a house, you want to try to have as many people as possible bidding on your beautiful house that you can have. You're going to have some people that will come in, and they'll see that crack, and they'll think the house is falling, and they'll run out.
You get it done. There's a warranty that's done. It's not a big deal to have it done. It's done usually all from the inside. And then as people come through or their realtor comes through with them, or don't forget Uncle Joe, he can ruin the deal too. You have a warranty from us in writing that means something and that's the reason why you would have it done. Let alone the cold air that will come through during the winter and the moist air that will come through during the summer. And that's the reason why you get a foundation crack repair.
Narrator: Thanks, Rich, for making this special appearance and sharing your infinite wisdom in the crack repair industry.
